Our playground needs some love. Like so many historic schools located in urban areas, our playground has been paved over with asphalt and our equipment could use an update. The asphalt has created a heat island and the impermeable surface contributes to our community storm water management problem.
We are exploring options to add more green space, natural play areas, and trees to the playground area. With support from families and community volunteers, we added an outdoor classrooom and pollinator garden on the south side of the school during the 2016-17 school year.
